EOY2007 : Perhaps The Most Grand & Toughest Ever
EOY2007 was probably the toughest one so far among all the cosplay/Jrock events that I have ever attended. On the good side, it was probably also the most grand as well; we (Black Alice) went there with as a sponsor, and in return, we were given 3 tables inside the hall with an extremely big space. I even have power sockets near our table, where I remember Shaoyang using her curler on Joie's hair. I should have taken pictures of it; it was quite a sight, especially how they used the parasol to "conceal" her.
Sales as expected, was pretty slow, but the main purpose of the event was for marketing, and let people know that we existed. However, I was pretty surprised that STAC did not mention much about their sponsors, nor did any writeup on the sponsors in their booklet. I thought that was pretty weird. Normal booths had write-ups, but not for sponsors. When time permits, I'll feedback this issue to Leo.
Thankfully, response to our mailing list, flyers and namecards were very well received.
As for all events, it is always easier to write together with the pictures. For the goodwill of all my beloved flist, I will do my 1st LJ cut ever. And as always, I am bias, so there will always be more pictures of lolitas..jpg)
There's Jas, the girl who bought the red OP from us. She looks so pretty in it; I'm so happy that our OP found a good owner!.jpg)
Shaoyang & Joie..jpg)
Lovely Ling & Shaoyang. A lolita's upkeep is very expensive. I asked for it..jpg)
Final Fantasy 9: Swee..jpg)
The lovely lolita that everyone liked. Shaoyang mentioned that "she was falling in love with her". xD.jpg)
Yuanyuan (Zelda); a long time friend. Her costume is great as always..jpg)
Went to say hi to Stellar (left); will formally introduce myself again when chance permits..jpg)
Abi looks really fierce here. ^^.jpg)

Harriet and Jas..jpg)

Went to say hi to Elizabeth; don't think she knows me. I don't really regard her as a competitor, but I wonder if she does. She's more into cosplay stuff these days. Her JSK's pretty cute..jpg)

Me & Kaori. She got the JSK from us, and she looks great in it. Our JSK found a good owner too!.jpg)
Her headdress is pretty interesting. I had to chase her for a picture..jpg)

Me and xelectrocutex, if I didn't get the nick wrong. I like the prints on her OP!.jpg)
Me and Yuanyuang (right)..jpg)
Pulled them out from their booth to get a shot..jpg)
Hina Ichigo was pretty surprised when I asked for a shot. The girl on the right seemed pretty interested in our booth's items..jpg)

I think this is Inuran if I'm not wrong. Her costume is very hiong..jpg)
.jpg)
Another pair which I had to chase down for a picture..jpg)
There's Sakura, one of our customers of Black Alice. She bought the parasol from us. She made her own dress though; we all thought that it was pretty amazing..jpg)
Moitie freaks; Dawn & Xiaoyun..jpg)

Kaori and our favourite pink loli. I wanted to take a picture with her as well, but I think she left early..jpg)

I had to get Roy to take a few times because the lighting was so difficult. Apparently Shaoyang loves to stand on the right in pictures. I think she practiced 13,467 times in front of the mirror? :D.jpg)
I think that cleavage is a little dangerous..jpg)
This girl requested for me to email her this picture. This is probably the 1st time I have gotten such a request..jpg)

I can't exactly pinpoint why, but I really like this picture..jpg)

After I gathered the girls for this shot (in front of our booth), 12,695 photographers came. It was really quite a sight..jpg)

Jingnah looks like she is ready to kill me anytime. Roy and myself bought the A3 "Epic" print from her. It's now hanging at Black Alice..jpg)
Joie, Dawn and Kaori. Joie and Dawn are my great staff at Black Alice..jpg)
Got a picture together with Jas..jpg)

That's about it! All in all, although it was really very tiring, I'm glad that it was still a blast.
Some of the girls were pretty discouraged with the panel, but I felt that it was pretty good. The amount of time, effort and sacrifice put in is just immeasurable. And those idiots who mentioned that they were only doing it for attention deserve a beating. Do you really think lolitas like them need attention? They already have so much of it. They don't need a panel for it. My dota friends would say, "Jitao joke."
I really hope to not just only raise the standard of lolita, but also raise the bonding between lolitas, as well as greatly reduce the politics of it. Sometimes when Ling and myself look at how some of the newer lolitas dress and bahave, we can't help but feel that it will be a long journey.
However, we will persist in 2008. No one is going to tell me that it ain't going to happen.
Words like "impossible", "cannot be done" are for losers. Perhaps I am a little audacious, but without audacity, there can never be big dreams. Without big dreams, there will never be significant change.
I want to thank the following people in EOY2007:
Ling: For always believing in me, giving me all the moral support. For giving me ideas, enduring the hard work of moving inventory, waking up early and set up and tear down the booth. It really means a lot to me.
Dawn/Joie: For taking the time to help me out in the booth when I was not around. Thanks also for helping to unload/pack the items.
Shaoyang/Kennick/Yuan Le/Ryan: For helping me pack out stuff when we were closing. Thank you for helping me carry the boxes and move all the items down. Me and Ling wouldn't have been able to do it alone. Much thanks to Kennick, my photographer for Black Alice/My Import Store and a good friend, who came down specially to attend the event and learn about what I do.
Dawn/Joie/Sakky/Harriet/Shannen/Xiaoyun:
Roy: My great buddy who gave down and took pictures with me. He's too shy to ask for pictures sometimes so I help him out in this area. In return, he helps me very much by helping me take pictures with other people. It was a pity you had to leave earlier; hope we can catch up again soon!
Kaiwen/Hao: For coming down to say hi. Sorry I was pretty busy the whole day and did not really get a chance to catch up.
Thank you everyone! See you all at the next event!
